Mahalo Monday
My mom has a Monday tradition. Each week on Monday, on facebook, she posts a little vignette about something she's grateful for in the past week. She calls it Mahalo Monday. Her weekly mini-installments are little light showers that help me feel good about things around me, and encourage me to look for the good in my life as well. And I know I'm not the only consumer-- All of her followers are tuned in for the next week's entry.
I've always been one to stay off of social media, afraid of the harm it will do to me, and uninterested in putting myself in the ring of mass media consumption. It's probably more self preservation than anything. But I see how my mom is able to be a light to others on social media, and I'd love to be able to do the same. Perhaps I can do that on here a little bit, as practice!
I love that your mom uses social media for such an uplifting, positive purpose! I hope we can all become a little more like her--social media would be a much better experience for everyone if we did!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great example to others of how we should always be trying to give uplifting thoughts even on social media! Its easy to forget how many people we influence through our social media, and this is a great reminder to use that influence for good!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cool tradition! Thanks for the reminder that we can in fact use media for good. I'm in the same boat of avoiding social media because I don't want to get sucked in. I wonder though if I approached it with the intent of reaching out to someone how my attitude towards social media as well as my experience with it might change. Thanks for the ideas!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a neat idea! There's so much negativity in the world of social media, so I love the tradition your mom has of posting something positive and uplifting on facebook every week. I think it's so fun that others have caught on to her tradition and follow along. Thanks for sharing!
